During the second European Study Visit, which took place on the 6th and 7th of July, 2023, in Thessaloniki (Greece), ANSWER partners had the chance to learn about the University of Macedonia and the resources, programs and help this university offers to its students with disabilities.
In this sense, ANSWER partners had the opportunity to know the library services for students with visual disability, as well as the Accessibility Unit during the first day of the Study Visit.
Moreover, on the first day of the event, partners were introduced to the orientation and mobility resources and training programs for visually impaired students at the University of Macedonia. This first day ended with a Round Table, where partners had the chance to listen to the needs of students with disabilities and how these are met at the Greek university.
On the second day, partners visited the Student Counselling and Support Centre and they learned about how the University of Macedonia promotes students' mental health and adjustment. Furthermore, they got to know the good practices that the Macedonian university has, such as the Accessible Welcome Program for all students at UoM. Additionally, they learned about the accessibility measures and resources for wheelchair users, and they evaluated, as well, the possibility for students to move around the university with a wheelchair in terms of accessibility.
ANSWER partners also had a little bit of time to enjoy Thessaloniki, and they tried Greek food and beverages along with UoM partners, who also taught them a bit about Greek culture and traditions.
Overall, it was a very enriching event and the outcome was truly delightful and fruitful!
Let's continue thriving for an inclusive higher education for students with disabilities hand in hand with ANSWER!
