The University of Alicante (UA) is reinforcing its commitment to inclusion and accessibility in the arts by introducing a new service for hearing-impaired individuals in its Paranimf performing arts program. This initiative, part of the broader INCLUACultura program launched in 2022, is a collaboration between UA and Hidraqua, aimed at ensuring equal access to cultural events. The inclusion efforts extend beyond visual arts to now encompass performing arts, marking a significant step forward in fostering a more inclusive cultural environment.

For the first time, UA's Paranimf program will feature an auditory support system designed to accommodate individuals with hearing disabilities. This wireless system, consisting of a transmitting base and 24 receiving devices, aims to enhance the experience for these individuals by providing sound amplification during performances. Seats equipped with this technology will be available for purchase through Instanticket, ensuring optimal functionality and accessibility in designated areas of the auditorium.

The introduction of this service reflects UA and Hidraqua's shared commitment to promoting accessibility and equal opportunities for all. Martin Sanz, Director of Communication and External Relations at Hidraqua, emphasizes the importance of collaboration in achieving this goal, highlighting the company's CONTIGO program, which focuses on enhancing the well-being and inclusion of individuals facing barriers in their daily lives.

Previous collaborative efforts between UA and Hidraqua have yielded tangible results, such as inclusive actions in theatrical performances and accessibility improvements at the University of Alicante Museum (MUA). These initiatives, including sign language translation and tactile signage installations, underscore the ongoing commitment to creating a more accessible and inclusive cultural space for all members of the community.
