During the #DisabilityWeek2024 our partner the National Council of Persons with Disabilties (NCPD) has given presentation on community and family support for inclusive education on the first National Dialogue on Inclusive Education in Rwanda under the theme “Every Learner Matters: Strengthening Support System for Inclusive Learning in Rwanda”.
During this two-day event was held in Kigali, Rwanda and aimed at bringing together stakeholders from various sectors to collaborate on creating solutions that enhance educational access, quality & inclusivity for learners with disabilities.
The Ministry of Education of Rwanda, also a partner in the ANSWER project, played as well a key role in this both amazing and necessary event. In his opening remarks, Hon. Minister of Education, Joseph Nsengimana said that the government of Rwanda reaffirms its commitment to fostering inclusivity and ensuring equitable access to education for all regardless of disability.
Some of the pannel discussions that were held were:
- Key achievements in health and Social Protection Clusters to ensure Access and mainstreaming of Persons with Disabilities (Health, Education, Social Protection.
- Key achievements in Economic cluster, job creation and private engagement to ensure access and mainstreaming of Persons with Disabilities to employement
- Leadership and Governance: amplifying the leadership of Persons with Disabilities for an inclusive and sustainable future
From the ANSWER project, we want to congratulate the country of Rwanda for such a great achievement as organizing this important event during the Disability Week 2024. Moreover, we want to thank MINEDUC and NCPD for making this possible and working so dedicatedly to improve the situation of people with disabilities in Rwanda.
