Kigali, Rwanda
In a momentous event that exuded energy and enthusiasm, the ANSWER project celebrated its kick-off meeting and dissemination event together from 6th to 8th June heralding the start of a groundbreaking initiative to promote inclusive higher education in Rwanda. The meeting, held in the vibrant city of Kigali, brought together a passionate team of partners committed to breaking down barriers for students with disabilities and fostering a more inclusive society.
Under the banner of the ANSWER project, higher education institutions, stakeholders from educational institutions, government bodies, and advocacy organizations converged to share ideas, exchange experiences, and lay the foundation for an extraordinary journey of empowerment and transformation. The meeting proved to be an inspiring gathering that showcased the collective determination to create equal opportunities for students with disabilities and unlock their immense potential.
Among the attendees, there were participants from different institutions and enterprises, such as Rwanda Organisation of persons with Physical Disability and Wheelchair Users (ROPPD-WU), the Integrated Polytechnic Regional College of Ngoma (IPRC Mgoma), Igihe, Trinity International, The New Times, Le Home de la Vierge des Pauvres Gatagara, Rwanda Union of the Blind (RUB), Visual Legacy Conservation, among others.
The primary objectives of the Kick-off-Meeting and the Dissemination Event were twofold. On one hand, the Kick-off-Meeting offered partners the chance to get to know each other, grasp a comprehensive understanding of the work packages of which the project is composed, and set the first steps towards the implementation of the project objectives. On the other hand, the Dissemination Event aimed to present the ANSWER project, its expected results, and the consortium involved. It also provided partners and attendees with the opportunity to discuss about significant topics related with inclusion concerning disability, such as the needs that must be tackled first to achieve effective results and help the main beneficiaries of the project: students with disabilities.
As ANSWER partners, we are absolutely thrilled with the success of our kick-off meeting. The energy and enthusiasm in the room were simply contagious, setting the stage for a truly remarkable endeavor. Our goal is to create an inclusive higher education environment that values diversity and embraces the unique talents of every individual.
While our journey begins in Kigali, we are determined to spread our wings throughout Rwanda. We believe that by working together, we can create a brighter, more inclusive future for all.
Together, let's celebrate this joyous milestone and pave the way for a more inclusive and empowered society.
